WAPCOS: 50 Successful Years Of Etablishment

On 26 June 2019, WAPCOS, which was incorporated as a Public Sector Enterprise in 1969 by the Government of India, has celebrated its Golden Jubilee at Siri Fort Auditorium, Khel Gaon. In commemoration of this historic occasion, the Company organized Golden Jubilee Celebrations "Transcending Boundaries – Touching Lives."

Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Hon'ble Union Minister, Ministry of Jal Shakti illuminated the event as the Chief Guest of the event. While Shri Rattan Lal Kataria, Hon'ble Minister of State; Ministry of Jal Shakti and Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment attended the event as Guest of Honour, in the august presence of Shri U.P. Singh, Secretary, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India. Dignitaries from several countries also came to take part in this wonderful celebration of WAPCOS.

WAPCOS is a leading technology-driven consultancy and EPC organization with a strong global presence in the fields of Water, Power and Infrastructure Sectors. WAPCOS has successfully completed/on-going consultancy assignments in countries covering Asia, Africa, Middle East, South America and Pacific Island and is operating in more than 47 Countries, at present.

The event took place in a huge Gala manner, it started off with National Anthem followed by a short documentary film based on the journey and achievements of WAPCOS "Transcending Boundaries- Touching Lives."

Speaking on the occasion, CMD, WAPCOS, Shri R.K.Gupta said that WAPOCOS is a leading technology-driven consultancy and EPC organization with a strong global presence in the fields of Water, Power and Infrastructure Sectors. WAPCOS has successfully completed/on-going consultancy assignments in countries covering Asia, Africa, Middle East, South America and Pacific Island and is operating in more than 47 Countries, at present.

Taking the event further, Rattan Lal Kataria and Gajendra Singh Shekhawat also addressed the audience. In their address, both of them appreciated the organisation for its brilliant works and highlighted how WAPCOS is wonderfully working on the grassroots level.

Earlier at a pre- event to this celebration at Central Water Commission in New Delhi, Union Minister for Jal Shakti Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said that challenges of the Climate challenge and unpredictability of Monsoon have emerged as one of the greatest problems facing India.
Speaking at a Workshop on Flood Management here, the Minister said that there is a need for a holistic approach to fighting the challenges of both the drought and floods in India. He said, as the Central Water Commission (CWC) is going to celebrate the 75th year of its foundation soon, the distilled wisdom of the organization should be reviewed and taken forward to find practical solutions.

During the event, Shri Shekhawat also released a book titled "Reassessment of Water Availability in India Using Space Inputs". Let us tell you that The study for "Reassessment of Water Availability of River Basins in India using Space Inputs" for assessing the average annual water resources in the country is conducted by Central Water Commission (CWC) with technical support of National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC), Hyderabad. It is believed that the outcome of this study will be helpful for the development or water resources in the country.

Coming to an end, popular singer Sonu Nigam gave an amazing musical performance and with his mesmerizing voice, Sonu won millions of hearts yet again.
