Senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Vijay Goel staged a demonstration at ITO Chowk today, accusing the Kejriwal government of failing to address Delhi’s worsening pollution crisis. As the city grapples with hazardous air quality, Goel dismissed the government’s efforts as mere theatrics, calling its anti-pollution measures a “drama.”
During the protest, Goel, accompanied by party workers, distributed masks to the public and held placards denouncing Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's policies. Highlighting the alarming Air Quality Index (AQI) levels, which have touched 500 in some areas and even reached 1133 elsewhere, Goel criticized the government for its inaction.

“This city has turned into a gas chamber,” Goel said, accusing Kejriwal of focusing on rhetoric rather than implementing concrete solutions. “Every year, there’s a new drama—one year it’s ‘Red Light On, Car Off,’ the next it’s the Odd-Even scheme. But none of these measures have made a meaningful impact.”
Goel also pointed out the failure to address water pollution in the Yamuna, stating that citizens are being exposed to both toxic air and polluted water, endangering public health.
Citing the “pollution migration” trend, where residents, particularly young professionals, are leaving Delhi for cleaner environments, Goel called this an alarming indicator of the city’s environmental degradation.
On November 18, Delhi's AQI reached a hazardous 493—more than 30 times the World Health Organization’s safe limit. Goel questioned the Kejriwal administration's accountability, challenging it to list a single significant step it has taken to reduce pollution in the past decade.

Calling on citizens to adopt environmentally sustainable practices, Goel emphasized the need for urgent and actionable measures to combat pollution and ensure a healthier future for Delhi.
pic.twitter.com/wwQfPLMZHV
