On the eve of the 76th Constitution Day, former Union Minister and Vice Chairman of Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti, Vijay Goel, led the Samvidhan Samman Yatra from the historic Red Fort to Fatehpuri Masjid. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from hundreds of people, united in their commitment to the ideals of justice, equality, and constitutional values.
The highlight of the yatra was an 8-foot replica of the Constitution displayed on a grand horse-drawn carriage, symbolizing reverence for India’s foundational document. Vijay Goel offered floral tributes to the Constitution during the procession, emphasizing its importance as the cornerstone of India’s democracy.

Addressing the gathering, Goel lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call to protect the Constitution, stating, “The Constitution ensures justice and equality for all, showcasing India’s strength in its diversity.” He described the document as a unifying thread for the nation, embodying the ideals of justice, liberty, and fraternity enshrined in its Preamble.
Goel also shared insights into a similar initiative by Prime Minister Modi during his tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister in 2010. Recalling the Samvidhan Gaurav Yatra, he noted how a replica of the Constitution was carried atop an elephant in Surendra Nagar to commemorate 60 years of the Constitution, calling it a “memorable tribute to constitutional values.”
The Samvidhan Samman Yatra, Goel explained, was inspired by the same spirit, aiming to rekindle awareness of constitutional values among citizens and spark dialogue on their relevance in today’s India. “Our Constitution not only grants rights but emphasizes duties, a vision Mahatma Gandhi championed. Rights are protected when duties are fulfilled,” he added.

Adding to the vibrant atmosphere, a children’s marching band, dressed in colorful uniforms and waving the Indian tricolor, led the procession with lively music, energizing both participants and spectators. The band’s synchronized beats on drums and cymbals filled the air with patriotic fervor, as onlookers along the route cheered and showered flowers on the yatris.
The procession concluded at Fatehpuri Masjid, leaving a powerful message of unity and respect for India’s Constitution.
