South Asian University Opens Applications for 2025-26 Academic Session

The South Asian University (SAU) has officially commenced the application process for the 2025-26 academic session. SAU President Prof. K K Aggarwal announced the development, reaffirming the university’s dedication to providing world-class education across the South Asian region.

The university is undergoing a significant phase of expansion with the establishment of a 100-acre state-of-the-art permanent campus at Maidan Garhi. Until 2022, SAU operated from a temporary premise at Akbar Bhawan, but the new campus aims to offer enhanced facilities and academic opportunities.

Introduction of New Study Programs

SAU has expanded its academic offerings significantly. While the university traditionally offered only Master’s and PhD programs until 2023, it introduced a B.Tech. program in Computer Science and Engineering in the 2024-25 academic session.

Building upon this momentum, the university has launched several new programs for 2025-26, with approximately 1,300 seats available across various disciplines.

The B.Tech. in Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) now includes specializations in high-demand fields such as Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Business Systems & Intelligence, Cybersecurity, and Data Science & AI.

Additionally, SAU has introduced a B.Tech. in Mathematics and Computing, aimed at equipping students with advanced computational and analytical skills relevant to emerging technological fields.

Integrated and Postgraduate Programs

For students seeking interdisciplinary education, SAU has introduced Integrated Programs, allowing a seamless transition from undergraduate to postgraduate studies. These include:

• Integrated BS-MS in Interdisciplinary Sciences

• Integrated BBA-MBA program

To accommodate students who have completed a four-year undergraduate degree, SAU has also introduced one-year Master’s programs, enabling them to gain advanced qualifications in a shorter timeframe.

The postgraduate offerings have further expanded with the introduction of:

• Executive MBA for working professionals

• Master of Computer Applications (MCA)

Additionally, the university continues to offer M.Tech., MSc (Computer Science), MSc Biotechnology, MA Sociology, MA International Relations, MA Economics, and LLM programs.

PhD and Executive Education Programs

On the PhD front, SAU has launched an Executive PhD program, specifically designed for working professionals who wish to pursue research while continuing their careers.

Launch of Virtual Campus

A significant milestone in SAU’s commitment to digital education is the introduction of its Virtual Campus. This initiative offers online degree and certificate programs, ensuring the same academic rigor, curriculum standards, and faculty expertise as on-campus programs.

Admission Process and Eligibility Criteria

Admissions to various programs will be conducted through the university’s own entrance test and recognized national-level eligibility tests across SAARC nations. For Indian students, scores from CUET, JEE Mains, CAT, and other exams will be considered.

Candidates from other SAARC countries can take the entrance test through a secure, proctored online examination from their home countries. Additionally, merit-based admissions will also be available for students from SAARC nations, as informed by Dr. Kavita Khanna, Director of Admissions and Examinations at SAU.

The entrance tests are scheduled for April 26 and 27, 2025.
